Sundays 9:00 am WKYT Channel 27-2
It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery
so there will be no distractions during the preaching of the Gospel

Sovereign grace o’er sin abounding
Ransomed souls, the tidings swell
‘Tis a deep that knows no sounding
Who its breadth or length can tell?

Heirs of God, joint-heirs with Jesus
Long ere time its race begun
To His Name eternal praises
O what wonders love hath done!

Who from Christ our souls can sever
Bound by everlasting bands
Once in Him, in Him forever
None can pluck us from His hands.

O such love, my soul, still ponder
Love so great, so rich, so free
Say, while lost in holy wonder
Why, O Lord, such love to me?

(Tune: “Jesus Calls Us” p. 374)

“There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.” - Proverbs 19:21

Manna is the bread that came down from Heaven. The Lord said in John 6:32-35 that manna typified the true bread that came down from Heaven: Christ Himself. The bread was to be gathered daily. The children of Israel were forbidden to gather bread for tomorrow or to eat any of yesterday’s bread. If they did, it bred worms and stank. We are forbidden to look to yesterday’s faith or experience for today. It will breed worms and stink. We are forbidden to look to what we intend to do tomorrow. That is presumption and works. We are to look to Christ today, right now, rest in Him, trust Him, rely on Him as our all in salvation, like we did the very first time we trusted Him. And if there is a tomorrow, it will be the same. We are not to find a false refuge in yesterday or tomorrow. Faith is always in the present. Only present faith is simple faith. Yesterday and tomorrow make it complex and false.

As long as we are in this flesh, we will have misunderstandings among us, unpleasantnesses, and even injustices (we will feel that our rights have been violated and others have been wrong in what they have said and done). What is to be our attitude? It is to be twofold: “FOREBEARING one another and FORGIVING one another.” To FORBEAR is to control our emotions, surrendering our rights for the time being in patient hope that God will reveal His purpose and will. To FORGIVE is actually to put the misunderstanding out of mind and restore a state of love and fellowship. Our Lord FORBEARS, that it, He is longsuffering and patient with us; and He FORGIVES, remembering our sins no more. - Henry Mahan

The most important aspect of a believer’s life is public worship – the worship of God in the assembly of His saints, collectively singing His praise, calling upon Him in prayer, and hearing the exposition of His Word by the preaching of the Gospel. - Don Fortner

God’s forgiveness of our sins in and by Christ is not partial, but complete. He has forgiven all our sins: past, present, and future. So thorough and complete is our Heavenly Father’s forgiveness that He will never impute sin to us to any degree or for any reason. So absolute is the forgiveness of our sins that our God will never treat us any the less graciously for having sinned! - Don Fortner

I saw, last week, a brother form the backwoods of America, and he said to me, “Twenty years ago, I was in your vestry, and you did me much good by something that you said to me.” I asked, “What did I say?” And the good man replied, “You said, ‘Brother, as a minister, there are two occasions upon which you ought to preach Jesus Christ.” I enquired, “What are those two occasions?” You answered, “In season, and out of season.” - C. H. Spurgeon

I often fear much for those who hear the Gospel regularly. I fear lest you become so familiar with the sound of its doctrine, that insensibly you become dead to its power. I fear lest your religion should sink down into vague talk about your own weakness and corruption, and a few sentimental expressions about Christ, while real, practical fighting on Christ’s side is altogether neglected. Oh! Beware of this state of mind.
- J. C. Ryle

Noah went into the ark BEFORE ONE DROP OF WATER FELL! If he had waited until the rain commenced, he would have been joined by thousands of false converts. True faith believes the promises of God and the warnings of God BEFORE they come to pass. A refuge built or entered during the storm is usually forsaken when the sun shines again. Be wary of those who seek the Lord when their flesh is pained.
- Henry Mahan

The Sovereignty of God is the stumbling block on which thousands fall and perish; and if we go contending with God about His sovereignty it will be our eternal ruin. It is absolutely necessary that we should submit to God as an absolute Sovereign, and the Sovereign of our souls, as one who may have mercy on whom He will have mercy and harden whom He will. - Jonathan Edwards
