Sundays 9:00 am WKYT Channel 27-2
It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery
so there will be no distractions during the preaching of the Gospel

Brethren, let us join to bless
Christ our Peace and Righteousness
Let our praise to Him be given
High at God’s right hand in heaven. (Repeat)

Son of God, to Thee we bow
Thou art Lord, and only Thou
Thou the woman’s promised seed
Thou, who didst for sinners bleed. (Repeat)

Thee the angels ceaseless sing
Thee we praise, our Priest and King
Worthy is Thy name of praise
Full of glory, full of grace. (Repeat)

Thou has the glad tidings brought
Of salvation fully wrought
Wrought, O Lord alone by Thee
Wrought, to set Thy people free. (Repeat)

Thee, our Lord, would we adore
Serve and follow more and more
Praise and bless Thy matchless love
Till we join Thy saints above. (Repeat)

(Tune: “Take My Life and Let It Be” p. 393)

“He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is a folly and shame unto him.” - Proverbs 18:13

This is not an unimportant question because there are some men that I do not want to hear preach. There are three things that need to be in a man for me to want to hear him preach. (1) He must be one that God has sent with God’s message. “How shall they preach except they be sent.” (2) He must live what he believes. “They profess that they know God but in works they deny Him.” (3) He must have my best interests at heart. I have no desire to be a statistic in their ministry. “Being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted to you, not the Gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because you were dear to us.”
Another way to say this is….the man I want to hear must have the message, he must be affected by that message, and he must want me to be affected by the message.

Any man or woman who claims continual, uninterrupted joy, rest, and peace in this world is either not telling the truth or has no connection with reality! True joy, rest, and peace are things we enjoy in Christ IN THE MIDST of troubles, afflictions, and infirmities. Paul’s exhortation was, “Rejoice in the Lord.” When I am conscious of my weakness, failures, and sins, I rejoice in Christ, my righteousness. When I am concerned about food, clothing, and shelter, I rejoice in Christ my provider. When I am sick, Christ is my healer. When I am grieved, Christ is my comfort. When I am faced with death, Christ is my life! So it is not necessary to put on a false face and deceive others. We are still humans; but our peace, rest, and joy is Christ. – Pastor Henry Mahan

If we deny that man is dead in sin; that he is nothing, has nothing and can do nothing to merit salvation then we make “man true and God a liar!” If we deny God’s eternal and unconditional election of a people unto salvation; make salvation to be by man’s choice and will, instead of God’s choice, will and purpose; then we exalt man’s will above God’s, dethrone the Almighty and set man up in His place! If we deny the particular and effectual redemption of the elect by the blood of Christ; then we have no gospel to preach, only an atonement that does not atone, a redemption that does not redeem and a saviour that cannot save; we make a mockery of the suffering and death of the Son of God and count the blood of the covenant an unholy (common) thing! If we deny the invincible and essential work of God the Holy Spirit in regeneration and the new birth, then we must deny that “that which is born of the flesh is flesh” and say, “that which is born of the flesh is spirit!” Then we make Him to be less than man and emphatically deny that salvation is of the Lord, Who only can give life to the dead! If we deny the preservation and perseverance of the saints; then we openly declare that there is a power greater than God, one who can frustrate His purpose and pluck the sheep out of the Father’s hand, contrary to the words of the Lord Jesus. “If we deny Him, He also will deny us.” (II Timothy 2:12)
- Pastor Charles Pennington

One of the biggest issues in the New Testament was the issue of circumcision. There was a large group of people who professed to believe the Gospel of Christ. But they also believed it was needful to be circumcised (Acts. 15:1-11, Galatians 5:1-6). They did not deny the necessity of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Indeed, they professed that salvation could not be possible without it. However, they did deny the sufficiency of Christ. They believed there was something that needed to be done along with the person and work of Christ. They did not deny the necessity of Christ’s atonement. But they did deny its sufficiency! They did not deny salvation by grace. But they did deny salvation by grace alone! They did not deny that salvation comes through faith in Christ. But they did deny faith alone! That was the issue then. And it is the issue in our day. The message preached by “the circumcision” in our day is, “Christ died for all, but there is something you need to do to make this blood work for you.” Faith is looked upon as a work the sinner performs in order to make the blood of Christ effectual. But the answer to this is still the same. “If ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing” (Galatians 5:2).
