Sundays 9:00 am WKYT Channel 27-2

It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery

so there will be no distractions during the preaching of the Gospel.

Great God! Thy glory and Thy love

Our humble songs employ

In mercy from Thy Throne above

Look down and aid our joy.

Thy presence and Thy glory, Lord

Fill all the realms of space

O let Thy presence, by Thy Word

Divinely fill this place.

This hymn begins the solemn sound

Of holy worship here

May ev’ry saint with joy abound

And reverential fear.

Eternal Spirit! Heav’nly Dove!

Descend and fill this place

Reveal the Saviour’s matchless love

The wonders of His grace!

(Tune: “How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds” p. 53)

“A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.” - Proverbs 16:9

Assurance is not to be found in something you have done, but in something Christ has done for you. - Don Fortner

When preachers present the Gospel as God loving the sinner so much He gave His Son to die for them so they could be with Him forever, he really is not preaching the Gospel at all. For one thing, it is never right to tell an unbeliever that Christ died for them. The Apostles never preached like that. And it is making man too big. “God wants you so bad He gave His Son to die for you.” That is putting the emphasis on the value of man rather than the amazing grace of God. If Christ died for you, you are saved. That is the assurance of the believer! But I can say to every man that salvation is in Christ and if you come to Him for mercy He will never turn you away.

The Gospel is Good News. It is a message with a specific content. We all want to conduct ourselves in such a way that adorns the Gospel. But no one will be saved by the example we set in our lives. What if you turned the 6:00 news on and the reporter was silent and did not give you the news, because he was seeking to be a good example to you. While I do want to be a good example for others to follow, and I want you to as well; I want to, I have to, I need to hear the Gospel. Tell me the old, old story.

1. Grace is always sovereign. “Therefore, hath He mercy on whom He will have mercy, and whom He will He hardeneth” (Romans 9:18).

2. Grace is always free. “Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24).

4. Grace is always saving. “By grace are ye saved” (Ephesians 2:8). God’s grace is not an offer up for man’s acceptance or rejection. His grace sovereignly, freely saves! We cannot believe grace without believing these three things regarding grace.

“Blessed is the man whom Thou choosest, and causest to approach unto Thee” (Psalm 65:4). What a blessing it is to be chosen of God. But it is a double blessing. All who are chosen of God are caused to approach or draw near unto God. The New Testament equivalent is John 6:37, “All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me.” God’s electing mercy is the reason men come to Christ. The evidence of divine election is this: those who have been elected are in a continual state of coming to Christ, and being caused to draw near to Him. Election never kept anybody from Christ. It is God’s fountainhead of mercy that brings men to Christ!

Psalm 50:21

The plan today is to make the church as much like the world as possible, so that unregenerate people will not feel uncomfortable and will be attracted to its ministry! Turn the church into a theater; worship into a musical display; ministers into actors and clowns to amuse and entertain; sermons into political, patriotic or philosophical essays; and the living God into a good buddy whose attributes are adjustable to any culture or creed. This will attract the flesh and successfully quench the Spirit.- Scott Richardson

The prophet Isaiah says plainly that the Lord Jesus Christ “Shall not fail.” Whatever the Son of God undertakes to accomplish, He shall accomplish. If He prays for a person’s salvation, that sinner must be saved. If He dies to put away a person’s sin, that person’s sin must be put away. If He seeks a sheep, the sheep must be found. If He says to the dead, “Live”, the dead must live. If He comes to save a sinner by the power of His grace, that sinner must be saved. “He shall not fail!” - Don Fortner

We must make Christ the paramount object of our soul’s pursuit or our spiritual life will decline. It was Christ yesterday, and it must be Christ today, and Christ forever. It will not do to feed partly on Christ and partly on other things. As in the matter of life, it is Christ alone; so in the matter of living, it must be Christ alone. – Scott Richardson

Every man ordained by God and sent by God to preach His Gospel will boldly declare that Jesus Christ is the exalted, glorified God-man who is the Sovereign Lord over this whole universe and every thing in it. Any man who portrays the risen Christ of God as a helpless deity who cannot accomplish what He has purposed is anti-Christ. That man is not God’s preacher. Our Lord did not send him. – Gene Harmon

One of the principal designs of our gracious heavenly Father in the ordering of our path, in the appointing of our testing and trials, in the discipline of His love, is to bring us to the end our ourselves, to show us our own powerlessness, to teach us to have no confidence in the flesh, that His strength may be made perfect in our conscious and realized weakness. - A. W. Pink
