It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery

HYMN OF THE DAY
For unto us a Child is born
To us a Son is giv’n
The government shall rest on Him
Th’ anointed One from Heav’n
His name is Wonderful, Counselor
The Mighty God is He
The Everlasting Father and the humble Prince of Peace.
The increase of His government
And peace shall never end
He’ll reign on David’s ancient throne
As ruler of all men
Upheld with justice, righteousness
Forev’r His reign will last
The zeal of the Lord God Most High will bring these things to pass.

“He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the Lord.” – Proverbs 17:15
While Christ was not born on December 25th, He was born! “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise.” He was before His birth. He is the eternal, uncreated Son of God. He came down from heaven to be conceived of a virgin so as not to be contaminated with Adam’s seed. “The Word was made flesh.” In the flesh He kept God’s law perfectly. In the flesh He was nailed to a cross. Why? In the flesh He died. Why? Because God made Him to be sin. The sins of the elect became His and He was punished for them and put them away. He made the way for God to be just and justify the ungodly. Thank God for the birth of Christ!
The cross is the whole counsel of God. The cross is the eternal purpose of God. “The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” The cross is the manifestation of the character of God. Every attribute of God is gloriously revealed on the cross. The cross was not for the fall of man. The fall of man was for the cross! “The preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness: but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
The whole idea of God not being fair in electing some and passing by others and Christ dying for the elect and not all men is born of a complete ignorance of sin. If a man has a sense of his own sinfulness, he knows he has no claims on God and the only fair thing for God to do is send him to hell. Surely God electing a great multitude and giving His Son to die for them is pure grace. The man who sees his sin does not complain with the fairness of it, but marvels of the graciousness of it.
WHAT WORK MUST BE DONE IN ORDER TO BE SAVED
Have I then no work to do in this great matter of salvation? NONE. What work canst thou work? What work of thine can buy forgiveness or make thee fit for the Divine favor? What work has God bidden thee to work in order to obtain salvation? NONE. His Word is very plain and easy to be understood, “To Him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (Romans 4:5). There is but one work by which a man can be saved. That work is not thine, but the work of the Son of God. That work is finished. – Horatius Bonar
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
Contrary to popular belief and so-called modern day preaching, “Not everyone” who proclaims to know Jesus Christ and calls Him Lord will be saved. Our Lord makes that very apparent when He proclaims, “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord shall enter the kingdom of heaven.” There are many church going, Scripture quoting, self-righteous and moral people going to hell. Some preach in His name, others claim to cast out devils, while multitudes brag on their many wonderful works, but Christ will profess to these religionists in that great day of judgment, “I never knew you, depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” That Gospel has never been what we must do for God, but WHAT GOD HAS DONE FOR SINNERS IN CHRIST! O how faithful the saying and worthy of all acceptance, “That Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” Heaven is reserved for those who do the will of the Father. “And this is the will of Him that sent Me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life” (John 6:40). None will see the Son and believe on Him, until God does a divine work of grace in their heart.

The whole scheme of works salvation is totally dependent upon man and looks inward for all hope, happiness, help, and holiness. Making man the principle object of worship, preeminence and glory. But, the whole scheme of God’s salvation is dependent upon Jesus Christ, the appointed Mediator and Substitute for sinners. This scheme of salvation looks God-ward for all hope, happiness, help, and holiness – making Jesus Christ the principle object of all worship, preeminence and glory. “God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ.” The grand design of God’s salvation is the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 17:4-5). – Tom Harding
