Sundays 7:00 am Channel 27 WKYT
It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery
so there will be no distractions during the preaching of the Gospel.

Begin, my tongue, some heav’nly theme
And speak some boundless thing
The mighty works and mightier Name
Of our eternal King.

Tell of His wondrous faithfulness
And sound His praise abroad
Sing the sweet promise of His grace
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Eternity, with all its years
Stands present in Thy view
To Thee there’s nothing old appears
Great God! There’s nothing new.

The glories of my Saviour, God
My thankful heart shall sing
And call my children to adore
Our sovereign Lord and King.

(Tune: “Am I a Solider of the Cross?” p.414 )

“Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.” – Proverbs 18:12

These were the words of Abraham to the rich man in hell. The rich man wanted Lazarus to bring a drop of water to him to ease him in his torment. Abraham said it was impossible for “A great gulf was fixed” (Luke 16:26) between those in heaven and those in hell. While there is life we can always hope. We can say with David, “Who can tell whether God will be gracious.” But after death the great gulf is fixed and impassable.
As we die is as we will spend eternity. “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still” (Rev. 22:11). With that in mind, “Seek the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near” (Isaiah 55:6). The time is coming when He cannot be found and when He is no longer near.

The believer in the Lord Jesus knows with absolute assurance that for him to have any hope of eternal life, the Father had to have chosen him in Christ before the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4).
He is absolutely sure that he is a sinner and that for his guilt to have truly been put away, his sin had to have been dealt with in Christ his Substitute (II Cor. 5:21) and now, shall never be charged to him (Rom 8:1).
He is absolutely sure that the perfect life that Christ lived as his Representative and Surety is now and shall forever be his only righteousness before God (Rom.4:6-7).
And he is absolutely sure, having come to Christ by faith, he shall forever be with the Lord (John 17:24). - Marvin Stalnaker

In the teeth of all thy sins believe that He is thy righteousness still. Thy good works do not improve His righteousness, thy bad works do not sully it. This is a robe which thy best deeds cannot mend and thy worst deed cannot mar. Thou standest in Him, not in thyself. Whatever, then, thy doubts and fears may have been, do now, poor troubled, distressed, distracted believer, say again, “Yes, He is the Lord my righteousness.”
- C. H. Spurgeon

When a person is looking for a church to attend and worship God, that person should never assume that he or she is hearing the Truth. Our Lord said in Matthew 7:15, “Beware of false prophets.” They are everywhere, telling every lie known to man! So how can I know whether I am hearing the Truth or a lie? We all must ask ourselves two questions: Am I hearing God’s Word and who is getting the glory in salvation?
Is salvation up to me or did Christ finish it alone? THE TRUTH is: Christ did it all (Hebrews 1:3)! Christ has already finished it all (John 19:30)! And Christ gets all the glory for salvation (I Cor. 1:31)! If a man is not preaching THAT, he is not preaching the Word of God. And if he is not preaching the Word of God, he is a false prophet!
It is not: THIS is what we believe….. and THAT is what they believe….. THE TRUTH is not dependent on what any of us believe! The only thing that matters is: What has God Almighty said in His Word? THE TRUTH is not an opinion about the Word…THE TRUTH IS THE WORD ITSELF! “Let God be true, but every man a liar” (Romans 3:4).

In his second letter to the Corinthians, Paul said, “I fear lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ” (II Corinthians 11:3).
There is a wonderful simplicity in public worship, which by the grace of God we must maintain at all costs. The primary purpose of gathering in the Name and Presence of God is the preaching of “Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” This serves two chief ends. (1) It promotes the worship of God in Spirit and in Truth. (2) The salvation and edification of God’s elect.
There is no magic in the preaching of the Gospel of God’s free saving grace in Christ Jesus, but it is God-ordained, God-honoring, and indispensable. It is primary, paramount, A MUST!
Firstly, ANY ACTIVITY which detracts from this solemn purpose of the church is destructive of this simplicity: entertainment, sports, social issues, church schools, day care centers, etc.
Secondly, ANYTHING which draws attention to the worshipper is destructive of this simplicity: rituals, ceremonies, pretty robes, bright gowns, etc. - Maurice Montgomery
