Sundays 7:00 am Channel 27 WKYT
It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery
so there will be no distractions during the preaching of the Gospel.

HYMN OF THE DAY
Jesus, engrave it on my
That Thou the one thing needful art
I could from all things parted be
But never, never, Lord from Thee.

Needful art Thou to make me live
Need art Thou all grace to give
Needful is Thy most precious blood
Needful is Thy correcting rod.

Needful Thy presence, dearest Lord
True peace and comfort to afford
Needful art Thou, my soul can say
Through all life’s dark and thorny way.

Needful art Thou to raise my dust
In shining glory with the just
Needful when in heav’n appear
To welcome and present me there.

(Tune: “Doxology”)

“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” - Proverbs 18:24

False religion presents salvation as a changed heart…..your heart is different than it used to be - you do not desire the things you once did, or at least those desires are weakened. Sin does not have the dominion over you it once did. You are a changed person. But did you know that when God saves a man, nothing is changed. He does not change you. He puts within you that which was not there before: a new man, a new heart, a new creation. The old heart is still there and has not changed at all. It is still just as evil and corrupt with the same sinful desires and passions it has always had. When people present themselves as changed they are not being honest and they are denying the doctrine of total depravity. To speak of change is to say that God takes a part of the old nature and changes and improves it.
Are you saying that a man’s life is in no way changed when God saves him? I am not saying that at all! There is now a battle that was not there before. The flesh lusting against the spirit and the spirit lusting against the flesh, rendering that man unable to do the things he would (Gal. 5:17). But thank God the elder (the flesh) shall serve the younger (the spirit) because “Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.”

HE ALWAYS MAKES THE FIRST MOVE
We read plainly in I John 4:19 that believers truly do love God, but only because He first loved them. This is the case in every spiritual motion. We do come to Him for mercy, but only because He first came to us in mercy, sending His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. We do touch the hem of His garment by faith, but only because He first touched us, giving us spiritual life through the power of His Spirit. We do call on Him to save us, but only because He first called us with the Gospel of free grace. We do bow down and worship Him, but only because He first bowed down, making Himself of no reputation, by nailing our sins, in His own body, to that tree. We do rest in Him, but only because He first rested after completing the work of salvation when He cried, “It is finished!” We do drink of the sweet wine of the Gospel, but only because He first drank of the cup of God’s wrath. We do pray to our Father for forgiveness, but only because He first prayed for us… “Father, forgive them (the elect); for they know not what they do.” We truly do will and desire to trust Christ alone, but only because He first made us willing in the day of His power. I say all of that, to say this, “Salvation is of the Lord.” (Jonah 2:9) – Brian DuFour

Heaven is a place where everybody who is there has only one reason for being there. Jesus Christ. Amen.

A young man said glibly, “Christ is all we need.” A more mature believer said, “No, Christ is all we have.”

Brother Henry Mahan sent me the following verses recently….

I walked a mile with pleasure
She chattered all the way!
But she left me none the wiser
For all she had to say.
I walked a mile with sorrow
And never a word said she
But oh the things I learned from her
When sorrow walked with me!
- Robert Hamilton

Oh my sisters, oh my brothers
As over life’s rough path you go
If God’s love has saved and kept you
Do not fail to tell others so!
