HYMN OF THE DAY
How sad our state by nature is
Our sin how deep it stains
And Satan binds our captive souls
Fast in his slavish chains.
But hark! A voice of sovereign grace
Sounds from the sacred Word
Ho, ye despairing sinners, come
And trust upon the Lord!
My soul obeys the Almighty’s call
And runs to this relief
I would believe Thy promise, Lord
Oh help my unbelief!
To the blest fountain of Thy blood
Incarnate God, I fly
Here let me wash my spotted soul
From sins of deepest dye.
A guilty, weak, and helpless worm
Into Thy hands I fall
Be Thou my strength and righteousness
My Savior, and my all.
(Tune: “Am I a Soldier of the Cross? P. 414)

“O God, Thou hast cast us off, Thou hast scattered us, Thou hast been displeased; O turn Thyself to us again.” – Psalm 60:1
Who has not felt what David felt? It is a grievous thing when we feel cast off, scattered, and the Lord is displeased with us because of our sin. David knew the only remedy was for the Lord to turn toward him in mercy again. Oh, how I need Him to turn to me -“Turn me, and I will be turned…..after I was turned I repented” …..“Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, and cause Thy face to shine, and we shall be saved”…..“Turn Thou unto me and have mercy on me.” Thank His name, He does turn toward us again, and He does turn us again!
Mr. Spurgeon once said, “My hope lives, not because I am not a sinner, but because I am a sinner for whom Christ died; my trust is not that I am holy, but that being unholy, He is my righteousness. My faith rests not upon what I am, or feel, or know, but in what Christ is, in what He has done, and in what He is now doing for me.
If my salvation is by the sovereign grace and work of God in the Lord Jesus Christ alone, and not by any work that I can do, then I have absolutely no reason to worry or fret over doing anything that might cause me to be lost. - David Eddmenson
If my understanding of grace leads me to disregard any of the warnings of Scripture, I have not understood grace at all.
CHRIST WILL KEEP THE SHEEP (John 10:27-30)
I do not panic nor despair in this world of religious paganism and corruption. The Lord knows how to deliver them that love Him and worship Him out of all trial and tribulation. Evil may abound, false teachers increase, the true worship of the Lord may all but perish from the earth; but our God has a people who are chosen by Him, redeemed by His dear Son, and called by His Spirit. He will keep them from falling and He will keep them “Til the river rolls its waters at their feet.” Then He will safely bear them over, where their Saviour they shall meet. - Henry Mahan
The most beautiful part of sovereignty is that God was pleased to make the Lord Jesus Christ “to be sin for us who knew no sin.” God has determined that none would be saved except by the atoning sacrifice of Christ. We must be washed in that fountain filled with blood. Sin is removed, not by us doing something for God, but by the Lord Jesus Christ doing something for us. We are accepted, not for what we are, or can be, or will be, but entirely and wholly through the shed blood and righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ. - Milton Howard
