August 10, 2014
Sundays 7:30 am Channel 27 WKYT
It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery
so there will be no distractions during the preaching of the Gospel.

We have Thy promise gracious Lord
O then fulfill Thy precious Word
Thou wilt be where Thy people meet
To make our joyfulness complete.

We ask Thy gracious presence here
From worldly thoughts, O keep us clear
And set our hearts on things above
With sweet enjoyment of Thy love.

We ask from our great living Head
Give us Thy Holy Spirit’s aid
While we engage in prayer and praise
To be supplied with every grace.

‘Tis Thine alone, Almighty Lord
To speak the soul-reviving Word
‘Tis Thine to give the hearing ear
‘Tis Thine to drive away all fear.

(Tune: “From Every Stormy Wind That Blows” p. 355)

“An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.” - Proverbs 21:4

Everything that happens is according to the permissive will of our Lord Jesus Christ, for His glory and for our good. Knowing this, we should NEVER allow the actions of others to offend us. – Pastor Gene Harmon

IS THIS ME?
When Samuel gave his farewell address to the children of Israel, He asked them to testify if he had been guilty of any of these four things: 1)Taking what belonged to others 2)Defrauding (practicing deception) 3)Oppression, or 4) Taking bribes that would blind his eyes to injustice (I Samuel 12:3). While these four things sum up the ways of this world, they are contrary to the Gospel! God gives, never defrauds or uses deception, sets the oppressed free, and certainly cannot be bought. This is true of His people as well. By grace they are givers, they are guileless, they do not grind and oppress men. Having been given all, they cannot be bought. This describes every believer, it is that to which they all aspire, they hate and repent of these if they see them rising up in their fallen nature. May this by the grace of God describe you and I: Givers, guileless, gracious, and cannot be bought. Is this me?

John Flavel once said, “He who calls you to come to Him for mercy and forgiveness, knows your sins, your weakness, and your guilt….yet He calls you! Now if your sin does not hinder Christ from calling, neither should it hinder you from coming!”
The Lord Jesus said, “They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick…..I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” (Matthew 9:12-13). To sinners, the Word of God says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31).
Let not conscience make you linger
Nor of fitness fondly dream
All the fitness He requireth
Is to have a need of Him.
- Pastor Maurice Montgomery

He who in his soul believes that man does of his own free-will turn to God, cannot have been taught of God, for that is one of the first principles taught us when God begins with us, that we have neither will nor power, but that HE gives both; that HE is the “Alpha and Omega” in the salvation of men. – C. H. Spurgeon

Regeneration makes no alteration on the flesh, but the spirit. There is nothing in the flesh made holy. And there is nothing in the spirit left unholy. - Robert Hawker
ONE WITHOUT THE OTHER
DIVINE SOVEREIGNTY without human responsibility leads men to fatalism and indifference. “Who can resist His will?” Then why blame me for sinning? (Romans 9:18-19)

SOVEREIGN ELECTION without means and the response of repentance and faith leads men to idleness and an unjust view of God. “I know thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, so I did nothing.” (Matthew 25:24)

HUMAN EFFORT and means without divine purpose leads men to pride and self-righteousness. “Being ignorant of Gods righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness.” (Romans 10:3)

THE KINGDOM OF CHRIST or the reign of Christ on earth without the reign of Christ in the heart leads men to seek rewards, position, and self glory. “Grant that my sons may sit one on Thy right hand and one on Thy left in the Kingdom.” (Matthew 20:21)

RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES and even outstanding gifts and services without the love for Christ and others lead men to empty service and worthless sacrifice. “Though I bestow my goods to feed the poor and my body to be burned and have not love, it profiteth me nothing.” (I Corinthians 13:3)

SPIRIT WITHOUT TRUTH is wildfire; truth without Spirit is dead orthodoxy. Grace without obedience is disgrace; obedience without grace is hypocrisy. – Pastor Henry Mahan

Grace, salvation, and eternal life are in Christ, only in Christ, and in Christ in infinite abundance (John 1:16-17; Colossians 1:19; 2:9-10, I Corinthians 1:30-31). Salvation is not in the church, but in Christ. Grace is not found in religious sacraments, but in Christ. God’s salvation is not found in religious ritualism, moral reformation, or emotional decision, or the religious sensationalism of this apostate, charismatic age. Salvation is in Christ. Grace is in Christ. Get Christ and you get everything. Miss Christ and you miss everything. (John 1:16-17; Colossians 1:19; 2:9-10; I Corinthians 1:30-31). – Pastor Don Fortner (Excerpt)
