Sundays 9:00 am Channel 5 CWKYT
It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery
so there will be no distractions during the preaching of the Gospel.

Revive Thy work, O Lord
Thy mighty arm make bare
Speak with the voice that wakes the dead
And make Thy people hear.

Revive Thy work, O Lord
Create soul-thirst for Thee
And hungering for the Bread of Life
Oh may our spirits be.

Revive Thy work, O Lord
Exalt Thy precious name
And by Thy Holy Ghost divine
Our love for Thee enflame.

Revive Thy work, O Lord
And give refreshing showers
The glory shall be Thine alone
The blessings, Lord, be ours.

(Tune: “Blest Be the Tie” p. 187)

“When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.” - Proverbs 16:7

If by progressive sanctification people mean growth in grace, I do believe in progressive sanctification. Our thoughts of Christ grow bigger. Out thoughts of self grow smaller. And we do grow in the fruit of the Holy Spirit. But if by progressive sanctification people mean we progressively become more holy and less sinful, I do not believe that at all! It is certainly not taught in Holy Scriptures and it is not true to the believer’s experience. So where did this error find its birth? It comes from Satan, as does all error. And it is the logical inference of not believing that a believer has two separate natures. He has the evil nature of his first birth that never gets better and the holy nature of his second birth that cannot sin, that cannot be improved. If I do not see this I will be left with the doctrine of progressive sanctification. When I hold this view, I will either lie to myself that I am becoming more holy and less sinful, or I will stay depressed. Both of those states prevent me from the joy and peace of believing! If I hold to progressive sanctification, I cannot hold to “Christ is all”. Progressive sanctification is not, “a misguided but well intentioned position”, it is a denial of this Scripture, “You are complete in Him” (Col. 2:10).

If a man is near-sighted, he only needs corrective glasses; but if he is BLIND, he needs a miracle only God can give – SIGHT! If a man is sick, he only needs medicinal aid; but if he is DEAD, he needs a miracle only God can give – LIFE! If a man has a weak heart, perhaps changing his diet and habits will improve his condition; but if he has a STONY HEART, a deceitful, desperately wicked heart, he needs this miracle – “A NEW HEART also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my judgments and do them” (Ezekiel 36:26-17).
Knowing these things to be true and knowing the desperate, depraved condition in which Adam’s fall has plunged all mankind, I believe, preach, and insist upon one solemn certain fact – “SALVATION IS OF THE LORD.” Let every son of Adam who reads these words come (like the leper in Matthew 8) to Christ and worship Him, saying, “LORD, IF THOU WILT, THOU CANST MAKE ME WHOLE!” AND HE WILL!
- Pastor Henry Mahan

Let me give you some simple directions for hearing the Word preached.
1. Hear with a HUNGRY, NEEDY HEART! If a person goes to the drug store seeking relief, he should have some idea of his problem. Does his head hurt or his feet? We hear the Word as men with a heart problem – sin.
2. Hear THE WORD OF GOD, not just the words of men! “When you received the Word of God which you heard from us, you received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth the Word of God which worketh effectually also in you that believe” (I Thess. 2:13).
3. Hear THE WORD FOR YOURSELF, not others! When Nathan told David the story of the stolen lamb, David was angry and said, “Who is the man, I will deal with him.” Nathan replied, “David, thou art the man.” The Word takes on a different sense when this is realized.
4. Hear the Word IN FAITH! What did God say of Israel? “They heard the Gospel preached, but it did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it” (Heb. 4:2). – Pastor Henry Mahan

Why did the dove return to the ark and the raven never return? Because the raven could live off the dead, decaying animals drowned in the flood. But the dove could not. It had to return to the ark for its food. The raven represents the religious man who does not know Christ. He is satisfied with the dead, rotting works of the flesh. But the true believer must return to Christ his ark for food. The mark of a true believer is that he is continually coming to Christ for the same thing! Mercy and grace! He cannot be satisfied with anything less.
