Sundays 9:00 am Channel 5 CWKYT
It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery
so there will be no distractions during the preaching of the Gospel.
Come, Thou Almighty Comforter
And bring upon Thy wing
Sweet consolation to each soul
That we may praise and sing.
We want to hear, we want to see
We want to know Christ more
We want sweet foretastes of His love
As we have had before.
And shall we come in vain to God?
O Lord, that cannot be
Thy promise stands engaged to come
And bless ev’n two or three.
Lord, give more love, more sincere faith
More confidence in Thee
Break off our legal chains, O God
And let our souls go free.
(Tune: “Come, Holy Spirit, Heavenly Dove” p. 158)

“Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? There is more hope of a
fool than of him.” - Proverbs 26:12
“For whosoever shall be ashamed of Me and My words, of him shall the Son of Man be ashamed when he shall come in His own glory.” - Luke 9:26
In the context of this statement, being ashamed of Christ and His words is a failure to deny self, take up the cross and follow Him. It is a failure to lose your life for His sake (Luke 9:23-26). The Lord cannot be separated from His words. His words are His doctrine. To be ashamed to confess before men any aspect of His doctrine is to be ashamed of His Person. To reject anything He said is to reject Him. We can be sure of this. If we are ashamed of Him and His words, he will be ashamed of us on judgment day. If we fail to confess Him before men, He will not confess us before His Father in heaven (Matthew 10:32-33). But thanks be unto God, we are not ashamed of Him and His words. Because we believe Him, we find His words to be spirit and life (John 6:63). We are not ashamed of them, but love them, because we are not ashamed of Him!
Many times over the years I have heard of preachers and churches which seek to make the bible relevant for today. The Bible is the Word of God! When men attempt to make the Bible relevant for today, it is neither more nor less than not really believing it is the Word of God. It is a watering down of the message of the Bible. When a man attempts to make the Holy Scriptures relevant, that man becomes irrelevant. God will not use that man’s attempt to make the Gospel more palatable to the flesh. That man manifests himself to be very ignorant and very arrogant. The job of the preacher is to preach the Word! Not attempt to make it relevant.
Discontent is the penalty we pay for being ungrateful for what we have. Very little is needed to make a happy life; but unfortunately, one of the weaknesses of our age is an apparent inability to distinguish need from greed. Paul said, “Having food and raiment, let us be content.” Remember it is not the happy people that are thankful; it is the thankful people who are happy.
We believe, that the work of regeneration, conversion, sanctification and faith, is not an act of man’s free will and power, but of the mighty efficacious and irresistible grace of God. – C. H. Spurgeon
Today’s gospel calls on men to stand up for God; the Gospel commands men to bow the knee and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. The two-told message of evangelism is (1) All flesh is grass, and (2) Behold your God! It is the message which strips man of all glory and gives all the glory to Christ. The result of preaching the Gospel of God’s glory will be a sense of the awful presence of God, breaking the hearts of sinners and bringing them to the feet of Christ for cleansing. Gone will be the voice of the proud sinner who stands in the church, beset on every side by soul winners, debating whether or not he will recognize the Lord and let God save him. Gone will be the voice of the self-righteous sinner who debates whether or not he will let Jesus come into his heart. Instead we will hear broken hearts and contrite spirits cry:
“Depths of mercy can there be
Mercy still reserved for me?”
- Rolfe Barnard
God never changes in His affections for His people or His purpose of good toward them. It is for this reason, and no other, that our salvation is sure and certain. Four thousand years of human rebellion did not cause God to abandon His promise of a Substitute to redeem His people; and our few years of floundering in this world cannot move Him from His purposed grace toward us. What a comfort! Our salvation is not founded upon the shifting sands of our righteousness, confession, or faithfulness, but on the bedrock of Divine consistency. – Pastor Joe Terrell
One Answer to Ten Thousand How’s
Faith brings God into the scene. Therefore, it knows absolutely nothing of difficulty; it laughs at impossibilities. In the judgment of faith, God is the answer to every question; He is the salvation to every difficulty…Unbelief says, how can such things be? Unbelief is full of flaws; but faith has one great answer to ten thousand how’s, and that answer is God Almighty. – Pastor Scott Richardson
Be truthful and God will honor you!
Be honest and He will provide for you!
Be humble and He will exalt you!
Be patient and He will stablish and strengthen you!
Be gentle to all and He will reward you!
- Pastor Henry Mahan
