HYMN OF THE DAY
O Lord descend and fill this place
With blessed tokens of Thy grace!
Our songs we to Thy honor raise
Long may they echo to Thy praise.
Here let our great Redeemer reign
With all the graces of His train
While power divine His Word attends
To conquer foes and cheer His friends.
‘Twas grace that quickened me when dead
‘Twas grace my soul to Jesus led
Grace brings a sense of pardoned sin
And grace subdues my lust within.
When from this world my soul removes
To mansions of delight and love
I’ll cast my crown before Thy throne
And Shout, “Free grace, free grace alone!”

“A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”
– Proverbs 17:17
“I am a debtor both to the Greeks and the Barbarians: both to the wise and unwise.” By that Paul meant he was indebted to all men. And what was the debt he owed them? The preaching of the Gospel! His reasoning was, since God had saved the very chief of sinners in saving him, he was obligated to tell other sinners that “faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.” This we know. No sinner will be saved apart from hearing and believing the Gospel. And we have been given this mandate, “Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” Oh, that God would give us a sense of indebtedness toward men that creates a desire for them to hear and be saved by the same Gospel that saved us. May we all say and feel “I am a debtor.”
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” That is enough. That is the word of Him who cannot lie. Nothing more is needed. “Verily, verily I say unto you, he that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life.” Never mind about your feelings; do not stop to examine your repentance to see if it is deep enough. It is CHRIST that saves; not your tears, or prayers, or resolutions. If you have received Christ, then you are saved. – Arthur W. Pink
“I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord.” I was glad that I had a DESIRE to go, that I had the STRENGTH to go, that I UNDERSTOOD the words spoken there, that I LOVED the people assembled there, that I , the chief of sinners, SHOULD BE PERMITTED to come into His presence. Bless the Lord, O my soul! - Pastor Henry Mahan
Christ is not valued, nor His grace appreciated until men have a genuine knowledge of their misery, helplessness, and lost condition because of sin. When sin is SIN indeed, then grace is GRACE indeed, and Christ is CHRIST indeed. If men have a superficial sense of sin, they have a superficial faith in Christ. – Thomas Manton
Often as the bell with solemn toll
Speaks of the departure of a soul
Let each one ask Himself, “Am I
Prepared, should I be called to die?”
Only this frail and fleeting breath
Preserves me from the jaws of death
Soon as it fails, at once I’m gone
And plunged into a world unknown.
Then, leaving all I loved below
To God’s tribunal I must go
Must hear the Judge pronounce my fate
And fix my everlasting state.
Lord Jesus, help me now to flee
And seek my hope alone in Thee
Apply Thy blood, Thy spirit give
Subdue my sin, and let me live.
Then, when the solemn bell I hear
Saved from guilt, I need not fear
Nor would the thought distressing be
“Perhaps it next may toll for me.”
Rather my spirit would rejoice
And long, and with to hear Thy voice
Glad when it bids me earth resign
Secure of heaven, for Thou art mine!
- John Newton
