It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery
so there will be no distractions during the preaching of the Gospel

HYMN OF THE DAY
Lamb of God, Thou now are seated
High upon Thy Father’s throne
All thy gracious work completed
All Thy mighty victory won.

Ev’ry knee in heav’n is bending
To the Lamb for sinners slain
Ev’ry voice and harp is singing
“Worthy is the Lamb to reign!”

Jesus, hail! Enthroned in glory
There forever to abide
All the heav’nly hosts adore Thee
Seated at Thy Father’s side.

All Thy people are forgiven
Through the virtue of Thy blood
Opened is the gate of heaven
We are reconciled to God!

(Tune: “Jesus Calls Us” p. 374)

“Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.” - Proverbs 13:10

ONE ACCORD
“These all continued with one accord.” – Acts 1:14
Four times in the opening chapters of Acts it is pointed out by the Holy Spirit that the church was of one accord. That means literally of the same mind. Paul besought the Corinthians, “That there be no divisions among you: but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind.” He said to the Ephesians, “Endeavor to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace.” He said to the Philippians, “Fulfill ye my joy, that ye be like minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind,” and “stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the Gospel.” The blessing of God comes through God’s people having one mind…the glory of His Son and the preaching of His Gospel to the world. Keeping the main thing the main thing. If we have become sidetracked to where this is not paramount in our hearts, may the Lord turn us again! May we remember that there is only one thing needful – to sit at His feet and hear His Word!

“For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. All they went to another village.” – Luke 9:56
Our Lord was going through Samaria on His way to Jerusalem. He sent His disciples ahead to prepare for Him to pass through a village of Samaritans. But they would not receive Him, so they went to another village. If you reject the Lord Jesus Christ, He will go somewhere else. That is all, but what a dreadful “all”. You have refused Him, so He goes away. At the wedding feast, the invited made excuses as to why they would not come, and the Master of the house said to his servant, “Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and maimed, and the halt, and the blind.” When the Lord Jesus Christ turns from you, because you will not receive Him, it will not be to go back to Heaven saying if He cannot have you He will have no one, but He will turn to another, and you will be without excuse. If you will not have Christ, there are others who will.

RELIGION OR WORSHIP
Based upon the Word of God, human nature, and from personal experience, I conclude that many people who attend church services are merely RELIGIOUS. The Lord said to a group of religious folk, “Well hath Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, this people draweth nigh unto me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.” I believe most people are religious for gain, duty, habit, social contacts, and a number of other reasons. But true believers attend church services because they are in love with and desire to worship and become better acquainted with a PERSON – THE LORD JESUS CHRIST! The true believer comes to the house of God with a real desire to worship his God and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is a Person who draws him/her to the worship services, and that is just what he does – WORSHIP! The religious need to be entertained during the service and impressed by spiritual surroundings; but believers need only to hear God’s Word preached, pray, and sing His praises. In fact, the simpler the service and the more preaching, the better the believer likes it; for it is Christ he has come to hear about and worship. – Pastor Henry Mahan

OUR REDEEMER
We worship that gloriously unique God-Man, the Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of Mary. He is the messenger and the Message, our Priest and our Sacrifice, the sum and substance of our Theology, that divine truth we know and love. What we call “Calvinism” or “The Doctrines of Grace” are embodied in Him. One may be familiar with these doctrines and not know Him, but one cannot know Him and have any lasting problems with these doctrines, because…they emanate from Him, being of the very essence of His glorious Person and work. True faith (the gift of God wrought in the soul through the Word (Romans 10:17), cannot conceive of HIM as being anything less than absolutely sovereign, and of His work for and in the sinner, as being anything other than absolutely free and effectual. Thus, Praise His Name! He is a real and sure hope for real sinners.
