Sovereign grace o’er sin abounding
Ransomed souls the tidings swell.
‘Tis a deep that knows no sounding
Who its length or breadth can tell?
On it glories, On it’s glories
Let my soul forever dwell, Let my soul forever dwell.

Who from Christ my soul can sever?
Bound by everlasting bands
Once in Christ, in Him forever
The eternal covenant stands!
None can pluck us, None can pluck us
From the blessed Savior’s hands, From the blessed Savior’s hands.

On such love, my soul, still ponder
Love so great, so rich, so free.
Say, while deep in holy wonder
Why, O Lord, such love to me?
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Grace shall reign eternally, Grace shall reign eternally.

(Tune: “Guide Me, O thou Great Jehovah” p. 291)

“Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy.” - Proverbs 20:28

Paul said to the church at Corinth that if they failed to forgive, restore, and confirm their love to the man that had sinned so grievously, Satan would get the advantage over them. (II Cor. 2:11). What all it means for Satan to have the advantage I do not know. But it is not good! What damage can be done in a church, a home, or an individual when Satan has an advantage. When we fail to forgive we act contrary to the Gospel, contrary to the law of Christ (Gal. 6:3), put ourselves in the state of not being forgiven (Matt. 6:15), and give Satan room to work powerfully in our lives. May we be quick to forgive, with some small measure of understanding how much we have been forgiven of!

Anybody’s dog will follow me if I feed it, but only my own dog will follow me if I beat it. And, any man will be a Christian, or profess to be one, while it is all joy, and silver slippers, and gravel walks; but only the man that really loves God, who says, “All the day long have I been plagued and chastened every morning” – it is only the man of God that can say, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him” – if He take away my comfort, and I have no joy but in Himself, still will I cling to Him.” - C. H. Spurgeon

In the kingdom of God the way up is down, the way to live is to die, the way to strength is weakness, to be wise is to become a fool, to be clothed in His righteousness is to be stripped of my own, to receive is to give, and to reign is to serve. If God does not turn my affections, interest, and love form this world, I will perish with the world. - Copied

Faith is the “Gift of God” but faith is an act of man. YOU must believe. Whoever does not believe in Jesus is a lost man. A faith that is not exercised by man will not save him. We must believe or perish. Repentance is worked in us by the Holy spirit of God, but we must repent or we will be lost forever. Faith is worked in us by the Holy Spirit of God, but we must believe or we will be lost forever. With our “hearts we believe unto righteousness.” - Pastor Milton Howard

If we only knew who we are and who God is and what He requires of us, it would leave us in total despair. But a knowledge of the Truth will save us from despair. There is one thing that the Truth of God will teach us, and that is that we cannot save ourselves. An ignorance of the Truth will close the gate of mercy to us. But when God leads us into truth, we can see what the Prophet Isaiah says, “Though my sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow.”
That is when we learn something of the blessed doctrine of SUBSTITUTION; that Christ Jesus stood before the wrath of God in our place, that the sins of His people were laid on Him; and that God the Father avenged sin in the person of His Son. Now that God has done this, the Law having been satisfied, can now pronounce pardon on the sinner.
Now, when the soul comes to know that sin is put away by the atoning blood; when the heart discovers that it is not our life that saves us, but the life of God that comes to dwell in us; that we are not regenerated by our own actions, but are regenerated by the Holy Ghost who comes to us through the precious death of Jesus, then this despair leaves and the despairing soul cries, “There is hope.” This is when we see that Christ does not want our goodness, but He wants our badness. He does not need my righteousness to save me, but my righteousness. That is when we see that He came to save the ungodly and to redeem His people from their sins.
A knowledge of the truth shows us our personal need of being saved. It is only through a knowledge of the Truth that we know of this atonement by which we are saved. Then it is only by a knowledge of this Truth that we know that it is by faith that the benefit of the atonement can be ours. Truth shows us that faith is the simple act of trusting, that it is not an act of which we can boast. Faith is not a work like coming to church. Faith is a self-denying grace which finds all its strength in the Christ upon whom it lives. Faith gives Him all the honor. Faith is not self in action but self forsaken, self abhorred, self put away so that the soul may trust in Christ, and trust in Christ alone. – Pastor Milton Howard

There is not a living sinner who would not like to be delivered from torment in Hell, but apart from Grace, he does not want to be delivered from his sins which he loves and in which he has pleasure. His desire for deliverance is not from his sins, but from physical torture.
– Pastor Scott Richardson
