It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery
so there will be no distractions during the preaching of the Gospel.

HYMN OF THE DAY
All things together work for good
For sinners saved by grace
We know things happen as they should
For all God’s chosen race, For all God’s chosen race.

Our mighty Savior rules above
And nothing can destroy
The special people of His love
This fills our hearts with joy, This fills our hearts with joy.

What though the world, and Satan too
Against our souls assail?
We know the Word of God is true
And Jesus cannot fail, And Jesus cannot fail.

Who can a charge against us place
When God has justified?
Redeemed and called by sovereign grace
We shall be glorified, We shall be glorified.

Who shall condemn to endless hell
When Christ for us had died?
Our Savior rose and lives to tell
That God is satisfied, That God is satisfied.

(Tune: Majestic Sweetness” p.52)

INITIATION INTO THE MYSTERY
In Philippians. 4:12, when Paul said, “I am instructed” the word means literally “initiated into the mystery.” The Gospel is the great mystery of godliness. A mystery is that which could not be known unless revealed. How would we know of the Trinity or eternal union with Christ unless God was pleased to make it known? And we are incapable of entering into those mysteries unless we are initiated into those mysteries. We must be taught by God Himself. “It is written in the prophets, they shall all be taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard and learned of the Father cometh to Me” (John 6:45). We just cannot get it, until He reveals Himself. And when He reveals Himself, we get it. He does not reveal Himself to all men; only the elect. The world cannot understand us nor recognize us. There is a very real sense in which being a Christian is being part of a secret society that none but the initiated understand. How thankful and humbled we are for being initiated into the mystery.

Interestingly enough, regarding election, the reasons for which unbelievers hate this truth concerning God are the very reasons Christians love it. Election tells me salvation is by grace from beginning to end, and that gives me hope. It tells me that my heavenly Father is in control of everything and that I am in His hands and that is exactly where I want to be. If you want to get a child of God thankful, excited, and zealous for the glory of God and good works, tell him about the electing love of God in Christ Jesus. Unbelievers hate it. God’s saints love it!

A faulty message will produce faulty methods, and a man-centered message will produce man-pleasing methods. If God’s glory is not our aim, then man’s approval will be. For these reasons and more, we preach the Gospel, which is the power of God, and keep our methods in line with that Gospel. – Pastor Paul Mahan
Be strong inwardly and outwardly in the grace of our Lord. Be rooted and grounded in His Gospel, have a full persuasion of the truth of it and your interest in Him! Preach it boldly and defend it bravely. But also be strong in His providence and dealings in grace and with you and yours. Don’t profess sovereign grace and then complain about sovereign providence. Pity parties make poor platforms for the preaching of sovereign grace. God’s servants are here to “comfort”, not to be comforted and coddled. – Pastor Henry Mahan

ONLY ONE ARK
When our God sent the flood, the whole world perished except those happy ones who were found in the ark. Even so, there is only ONE WAY of salvation for all persons living under heaven. There is only one name whereby they can be saved. Would you be saved, rich man? There is no way except that way whereby the poorest pauper is also to be saved. Would you be delivered O man of intelligence? You must be saved in the same way as the most ignorant! There were not two arks, only one. So there are not two saviours, only one Saviour! There was no other means of salvation except the ark, so “There is none other name under heaven, given among men, whereby we must be saved except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” - Pastor Henry Mahan

The quickest way to slay error is to proclaim the truth. The surest mode of extinguishing falsehood is to boldly advocate Scriptural principles. Scolding and protesting will not be so effectual in resisting the progress of error as the clear proclamation of the truth in Jesus.
- C. H. Spurgeon
