Sundays 7:00 am Channel 27 WKYT
It is requested that all children under the age of five stay in our nursery
so there will be no distractions during the preaching of the Gospel.

Come, let us join our grateful songs
With angels ‘round the throne
Ten thousand thousands are their tongues
But all their joys are one.

Worthy the Lamb that died, they cry
To be exalted thus
Worthy the Lamb, our lips reply
For He has died for us.

Jesus is worthy to receive
Honor and pow’r divine
And glory more than we can give
Be, Lord, forever Thine.

The whole creation join in one
To bless that holy name
Of Him who sits upon the throne
And to adore the Lamb.

(Tune: “Am I a Soldier of the Cross” p. 414)

“A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.” - Proverbs 16:9

Without question, the Bible teaches that God chose who would be saved before time began. It is a fixed number of people which cannot be increased or diminished. When Christ came into this world He came only to represent them. “I pray for them. I pray not for the world, but them which Thou hast given me.” Those the Father elected and the Son died for are the only ones that the Holy Spirit calls and births into His kingdom.
How am I to respond to this? Am I to try and figure out whether I am one of these highly favored people? No. My business is to do what God says to do in His Word. I am commanded as a sinner to believe, repent, and call upon the name of the Lord. Only in obedience to these commands, do I make my calling and election sure.

When William Carey announced that he wished to go overseas to preach to the heathen, a pastor replied, “Young man, if God wishes to save the heathen, He will do it without you!” What a bad spirit and error! Yes! God can accomplish His purpose and save His people WITHOUT ME and WITHOUT YOU; but He will use SOMEONE to preach the Word, SOMEONE to send the messenger, and SOMEONE to pray for and support His servant. I want that someone to be you and me! What a privilege and joy to have something to do with His glorious purpose to glorify Christ in calling out a people. Today, pray for your pastor as he preaches, encourage and support the missionaries, invite someone to hear the Word, give out a tape or book, and let us be about our Father’s business. – Pastor Henry Mahan

I believe that the man who is not willing to submit to the electing love and sovereign grace of God has great reason to question whether he is a Christian at all; for the spirit that kicks against that is the spirit of the unhumbled, unrenewed heart. – C. H. Spurgeon

Public worship is the most important aspect of the believer’s life. The only place under heaven where the Lord Jesus Christ has promised to meet with and manifest Himself to anyone is in the assembly gathered in His name to worship Him. – Pastor Don Fortner

“If any of you lack wisdom.” And what wisdom is James revering to? He calls it in James 3:17, “The wisdom that is from above.” James then proceeds to describe and define this wisdom to us. “It is first pure.” It is without the contamination of error. It is true to the word of God. If it is not pure, it is not from above. But James does not stop there. “It is then peaceable.” It is not looking for a fight. “Then gentle.” The word means moderate, not insisting on the letter of the law, not insisting on holding someone’s feet to the fire. It is then “Easy to be entreated.” That means compliant and approachable. “Full of mercy and good fruits.” Those who possess the wisdom that is from above are always merciful. “Without partiality”…the word here means uncertainty. While the wisdom that is from above is not arrogant, it is still certain with regard to God’s truth. “Without hypocrisy”…the wisdom that is from above does not pretend!
James says… “If any of you lack wisdom.” If this seems to be something you do not seem to have much of… “Let him ask of God.” This is not something we can ever attain to. It is the gift of God. “Who giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not.” He will not withhold this wisdom from the one who desires it, nor will He upbraid you for asking. What an encouragement this is! I certainly feel as though I have a deficiency in wisdom. But He has promised to give this wisdom to those who ask for it. It sounds to me like it is time to start asking!

A man’s free-will cannot cure him even of a toothache or a sore finger, and yet he madly thinks it is in his power to cure his soul of sin. Actually, the greatest judgment which God Himself can in this present life inflict upon a man is to leave that man in the hand of HIS OWN BOASTING FREE-WILL! Look where you will, and you will generally find that free-willers are not free-givers nor are they free-forgivers, but are very free-livers!

Nothing can truly pacify the conscience but that which pacifies God, and that is the blood of Christ. Read Hebrews 9:14.
